Pupil Premium

Pupil Premium

What is Pupil Premium?

Pupil Premium is funding which is additional to main school funding.  It was introduced in April 2011 and is allocated to schools to work with pupils who have been registered for free school meals at any point in the last six years. The government believes this is the best way to address the current underlying inequalities between children eligible for free school meals (FSM) and their peers by ensuring that funding to tackle disadvantage reaches the pupils who need it most.

At Totley All Saints, we are completely committed to the ideal of ‘every child matters’ and are driven by our values that focus on enhancing pupil achievement & wellbeing irrespective of their personal circumstances. In short, we want ALL of our children to do well and to thrive in their learning!

We seek to meet the needs of all of our pupils through careful analysis of progress data on a termly basis and design intervention strategies where necessary to meet each pupil’s needs. Whilst our school has traditionally received a low amount, Pupil Premium funding gives a method of further supporting some of our more disadvantaged pupils in order that we can ‘close the gap’ & ensure that they get the very best advantage from their time with us.

Principles

We believe that in order for our children to meet their potential the following must be true:

  • All children access highly effectively quality first teaching, with all approaches taken reviewed regularly and developed based on research.
  • All children are supported to fully access a high quality curriculum, designed around the needs of individuals and the school community and a curriculum which is research informed and designed with memory in mind.
  • Children are fully supported to make excellent progress in reading and no children suffers ‘reading failure’: early reading is central to the work of the school.
  • Barriers to learning for pupil premium children must be precisely identified, particularly when needs are more complex.
  • The needs of each individual are fully understood by leaders and teachers.
  • Children are precisely targeted for high quality intervention where needed.

Provision will be made through:

  • Facilitating pupils’ access to education
  • Facilitating pupils’ access to the curriculum
  • Alternative support and intervention within the school

This year, our Pupil Premium allocation for 2025-2026 is £27,755

Pupil Premium Strategy 2025-2027

  • The outcomes of FSM pupils vary at different times depending on the children & their individual needs. Sometimes, our FSM children appear in multiple pupil groups such as SEND (Special Educational Needs & Disabilities) which then affects their academic outcomes.
  • Where FSM pupils do not have Special Educational Needs & Disabilities, they attain within the expected range or above in comparison to the national average.
  • The Majority of our FSM pupils make good to outstanding progress
  • FSM pupils also show increased confidence as a result of targeted interventions, greater levels of support or access to extra-curricular activities.
