At Totley All Saints, we like to celebrate Red Nose day in style! We always enjoy raising money for charity anyway, so Red Nose Day gives us another great excuse to get giving! This year the School Council decided to go for a non-uniform day plus wearing red noses & a silly hat for 50p. The children with the best silly hat for each class, then won a prize.
On a more serious note, we also looked at how Red Nose day started, where our money goes & who it will be used to help. We found out that Red Nose Day came out of ‘Comic Relief’ which was launched from a refugee camp in Sudan on Christmas Day in 1985, live on BBC One. At that time, a devastating famine was crippling Ethiopia & a group of like minded people decided that something must be done.
At Totley All Saints, we like to spark this ‘can do something about it’ attitude & regularly have children from each year group organise their own charity events when they see a need. Why not see
our charity page for some of our most recent fundraisers!
