At Totley All Saints we’re very blessed to have the most wonderful grounds & facilities! Since we held a Forest School Lunchtime Club a couple of years ago,we’ve been inspired to have our very own purpose-cleared area in which to hold our very own Woodland Workshop!
Our Woodland Workshop is a fantastic purpose developed area which provides a fun & exciting way to learn in an outdoor setting. Outdoor learning of this type, is known to improve children’s self confidence, resilience, safety awareness & communication skills.
Our Woodland Workshop is next to our nature reserve & is just far enough away from the areas in which children play to feel special. Once the children are in there, it’s like being away from school altogether & children can enjoy an experience of outdoors right on our doorstep!
All year groups take part in our Woodland Workshop[ Curriculum & are able to enjoy lots of fantastic activities, including: den building, wood craft, playing games & cooking on a camp fire.
We also very proud that TASS is the proud home of an endangered rare breed of Willow Tits. Apparently, 94% of the national willow tit population has died out in the last fifty years, making them one of the fastest declining bird species in Britain. But, as it turns out, our woodland Workshop along with our pond area, are proving to be just the spot to hatch seven chicks using specialist nest boxes. The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) and the British Trust for Ornithology have become involved resulting in a research project & bird ringing sessions which our children have been able to witness.

We look forward to seeing even more of what the children get up to!
