We would ask that parents & carers try to read daily, or three times a week as an absolute minimum. As teachers are unable to check reading records on line, please send any comments you wish to share about how your child is getting on with their reading via Class Dojo (this may be a short video of your child reading, a direct message, or a photo of their Reading Record comments page). If you would like to continue earning stamps towards your child’s next reading certificate then please tick and sign the grid on the inside sleeve of their reading record if a minimum of 3 reads have been completed in a week.
Your class teacher has set the right book band level for your child (in some cases this may be a different colour to the one your child reads at school especially in higher book bands as Pearson books are colour-coded differently to some of the printed books that we use in school).
- KS2 children – aim to re-read each book at least once from your child’s ‘library’ (this holds their bank of books that have already been read). Re-reading books helps to develop children’s comprehension.
- KS1 children – aim to re-read each book at least twice from your child’s ‘library’ (this holds their bank of books that have already been read). Re-reading books helps children to develop their fluency.
Your child has been given a unique login that is personal to them. This consists of the first 4 letters of their first name (in cases where a child’s name consists of less letters, then their full name forms the first part of their name), and then the first 4 letters of their surname (or full surname in cases where their surname has less letter). All letters are lowercase with no spacing. See examples below:
Daisy Smith = daissmit
Joe Bloggs = joeblog
Please make a note of your child’s login in the box above & contact your class teacher if you are unsure.
