We are extremely proud of the high standards of behaviour in our school! We work hard to ensure that children learn how to behave & know how to live successfully together so that everyone can be happy.
We have a policy of positive behaviour & believe in rewarding children to build their self esteem & guide them in the right direction towards becoming the very best that they can be!
We have four Merit Teams: Ruby, Diamond, Sapphire & Emerald and children are given merit points for following the rules & helping each other. We also have a half termly treat afternoon for the winning team! The teams are headed up by Y6s (a boy & girl captain for each team) who have been voted in as good role models & ambassadors.
Our TASS Rainbow Rules are easy to remember & easy to follow so that children can be successful at our school:
1. Follow Instructions;
2. Listen Carefully;
3. Work Hard;
4. Respect Others;
5. Keep Safe.
Because we believe in being positive with children, we find that we have very few behaviour issues in our school & children manage their own behaviour very well. If a child does misbehave however, we have the following consequences – a ‘ladder’ of 5 warnings to support children to do the right thing.
- 1st Warning – just a word to allow a child to sort themselves out & to realise seriousness. It’s always good to have a ‘warning’ first before a written warning!
- 2nd Warning – two minutes taken off break time;
- 3rd Warning – a full break detention;
- 4th Warning – parents are contacted &/or child put on report (basically a timetable which informs parents on the child’s behaviour at the end of every lesson, is sent home at the end of the day, is signed & continues for a week or until behaviour is back on track);
- 5th Warning– serious stuff involving exclusion – either internally (at school) or an official exclusion where a child is sent home.
Children can travel up, but also back down the ladder of warnings. This gives children the opportunity to sort things out which is what we want to happen! A brand new day is also a brand new start at TASS!
We also reward fantastic learning behaviours at TASS & have a superstar learner each week from each class who is given a certificate in assembly & has their name published in the Totley Telegraph Newsletter.
